Drone - Membrane EP

Check out the first release on Bass Command Records from exclusive artist Drone.
Hailing from Melbourne Australia it’s a big surprise to hear this is Drone’s debut release. He is sure to be a hit and tipped as a future star by many on the DnB scene. All we can say so far is this is going to be the first of many releases from this producer.
Already with radio airplay across various worldwide stations and growing hype with the online community the title track Membrane has already received great reactions. Membrane is a smooth deep thinking tune with subtle synth stabs and a beautifully crafted rumbling bass, with progression that has been described as nothing short of quality. One for the Liquid and Intelligent scenes for sure.
Drone follows the title track with Answered Prayers another intelligent piece that that flows big time with a relentless bass that keeps giving and giving. This tune certainly sucks you in and spits you out the other side.
In addition to the original of Membrane comes the X-ecute remix. Set to counter the relaxed chilled vibes of the original X-ecute brings his unique style of tuff as fuck beats in a not quite Crossbreed not quite Breakcore but definitely hardcore sounding stomping remix.  One for the raves for certain. X-ecute has been smashing the airwaves with his resident show on Dutch radio Gabber Fm and this remix fits the hard edge sound perfectly. Expect more to come from this guy on Bass Command soon.

For one reason or another we dont post as much releases as this as we’d like. Dub Motion has put together a great little pack for Regal Records and its pretty dark.

Th release contains two tracks both in the same style, Lucifer and Red Stripe have both had support from some phatt big name DJ’s and that list is growing, not to mention being featured on the Hospital podcast and i have a sneaker feeling its going to be in our Podcasts for a while aswell so keep an eye out for those!

For me Red Stripe is the monster track of the two, Im not to sure what to say the bass is phatt the tune is dark and grimey. Seriously what more can you ask for?

Check it out for yourselves….

We’re a little late on this one the tunes came out on the 12th November so go get a copy now.

Viper records InsideInfo has smashed out a pretty tasty mix of Feel So Real by inform EDM globetrotter Unicorn Kid.

Its a crazy roller with all the elements from the original including the old skool rave vocal sample and enough sprinkles of 8-bit magic to stay true to Unicorn Kid’s style.

With big synth lines and a bass that has become the staple of these commercial DnB remixes the tune is sure to get some big radio coverage. The kind of festival or arena DnB that stays clear of the hardcore dancefloor. If thats your thing great if your into the dirty DnB then id probably stay clear of this but cant fault the tune from looking at the wider picture.

The full release is out on 3beat sometime soon there was no date on the press release so you’re just going to have to keep an eye out for it.

No audio samples online of the InsideInfo remix either well done 3Beat!!

Will post at a later date

Checking thru this weeks promos we find this nice little roller on Warm Communications. Two tracks from Lynx teaming up with Kemo for Dive Deep In on the A side and hooking up with Hellrazor for Shadowlands on the AA.

Shadowlands is the track that stands out for me, its full of strings that dont usuall find there way into this kind of DnB. Stepping drum loops with a bit of an old skool vibe and solid production. Pretty much anyone would want this tune on their label as its tight and smooth with enough moody bits for any DnB scene.

Dive in Deep features the vocal talents from Kemo. the tune itself has some intresting Guitar stabs with a very arabic vibe. cool ideas indeed for this very broken techy style tune.

Check it out on Warm Communications with releases on both 12″ and Digital from 23/12/2012

We’ve all heard Fresh’s Gold Dust. Its the tune that launched him in the eyes of the mainstream scene. For those who actually care obviously he was massive many many moons before that. Its been a good few years since Gold Dust came out and for some reason Ministry Of Sound have recently put out a follow up pack of remixes.

The Shy Fx re-edit is pretty much the original tune (thats what a re-edit is) but with Shy Fx’s trademark sounds featuring within the record. For me this is an improvement on the original. Yes the original had some growling bass ass synths towards the end but combine with the vocal Shy Fx’s Jungle vibes and it turne into a more complete piece. Probably making it more accessable for the more hardcore heads aswell who wouldnt touch the really commercial DnB with a shitty stick.

Theres a shed loads more mixes out but Shy Fx is the best. Boom!!

It may already be out if so go buy if not check it here….

One more thing, Oi Fresh if your reading this get me some feedback on the CD I gave you!!

Under various different aliases Marcus Intalex has been kicking out big tunes for about a decade now and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. With releases featuring on a number of labels including Metalheadz aswell as his own Soul:r label.

For his first release on Ingredients Records Marcus throws out some interesting sounds with this Double A side pressed to just 400 promo 12’s as well as the digital release.

On the A-side we have Cabal, a deep moody number with mad ass sub-bass and some really cool percussive work. its also got some pretty eerie pads and strings in there that I really like. I dont usually play this style but I can see myself keeping this in my bag for some time.

On the AA we have Mud. Described as Drum n Bass as it should be its a no bullshit sub-genre straight to the point classic DnB tune. Again with the amazing percusion its got a cool 90’s vibe to it and to be fair you could chill to this on a Sunday afternoon or you could lose yourself to it at the biggest nights going.

Already these tunes have support from the likes of Friction and Bailey to name a few and rightly so, these tunes should by all rights stay around for a long time.
Full release on Ingredients Records coming on the 20/11/2012.

Check the tunes here and keep an eye out for that limeted Vinyl pressing.

Words from Craig X-ecute

In the last week we’ve picked up some random as fuck promo’s this is the first of them. Murderer by Kamistry is coming soon on Vinyl related Records.

Previously self released on the likes of his Soundcloud and Band Camp, Manchester based Jungle lunatic Kamistry has now had the track signed up for a proper release.

The tune itself is proper mashed up Ragga Jungle vibes that is sure to get the toughest bombaclot rudeboy skanking hard. Its full on hard ass Jungle drums with a tiny hint of IDM glitch thrown in for good measure.

I suggest you check it out for yourselves here.

As mentioned before out soon on Vinyl Related Records not sure when!!

The Brookes Brothers have come up with some pretty smooth DnB lately and this latest offering on BreakBeat Kaos sticks with their sound crossing that “real” DnB sound with that of the radio friendly scene. Obviously Breakbeat Kaos know how to play in the mainstream market yet still manage to keep the tunes accessable to everyone who may care to take a listen.

This release is a Double A side to those kids who get their tune son Download that basicall means it has two phatt tunes not just one and two phatt tune sthey are!!

Loveline is described as big room Drum & Bass, it has the vocoded vocal and a big sleazy bassline to get most people raving their socks off. Also described as disco-infused beats and bass that will get any party going.

Although the second track The Blues doesngt have as phatt a Bassline its my personal favourite of the two. The vocal sample is an old “work song” (think Moby – Play) and it chuggs along nicely with the rolling beats and jungle style sub bass. It has loads of the Brookes Brothers trademark synthy stabs and some cheeky organ stabs that compliment the vocal. Basically its a great tune both musically and from a hands in the air rave up point of view.

As mentioned before the release is out on BreakBeat Kaos on 19th November and its probably going to do pretty damn well.

Listen to the tunes here…..

Matrix & Futurebound return to the world of commercial pop based Drum & Bass this time with the vocal talents of Baby Blue. The release is out on 3beat which is pretty unknown to the DnB world but has been a big player in the UK Clubland scene for many years.

Magnetic Eyes is another of those Radio friendly DnB tunes with the big iTunes market in its sights. Not one for the raves and sits much better with the liquid poppy DnB crowd. If thats your thing then great because your’ll be in for a treat. The tune is well structured and described as euphoric that word doens’nt sit well with me when it comes to DnB but in this case it certainly fits.

Its a hands in the air anthem that has already found its way to the big radio shows and has been played by the likes of Annie Mac. Again if thats your thing then its a cool tune.

For me the highlight of the release is the Smooth Remix. This is the remix for the raves. This is the remix that will get the dance floor banging its tits off. The Smooth remix is the one for me and most probably the one for most people reading this blog. Smooth has been dubbed as a Slovenian uber-producer. Thats cool with me because I tend to go for the banging Hard As Nails Eastern European DnB and this fits the bill nicely. So to round things up the original mix of Magnetic eyes is a nice Liquid hands in the air crowd pleasing track and for the hardcore go straight to the Smooth remix.

Tune is released on 3beat 25th November. Check the smooth remix here……
